Vitamin D Blood Testing
Accurate Laboratory Testing with Expert Clinical Support
Rose Pharmacy offers a Vitamin D blood testing service in partnership with a regulated, accredited laboratory, providing an accurate numerical measurement of your Total Vitamin D level (Vitamin D2 and D3 combined).
Vitamin D plays an important role in bone health, muscle function, and overall wellbeing. Low Vitamin D levels are common in the UK, particularly in people with limited sun exposure or increased health needs. Melanin in darker skin reduces Vitamin D production from sunlight, meaning longer sun exposure is often needed compared with lighter skin.
How the Test Works
-A small blood sample is taken using a simple finger-prick device
-Your sample is securely sent to our regulated laboratory for analysis
-Results are typically available within 2–3 weeks, depending on laboratory demand
-Your result is reported as a numerical value in nmol/L, the standard UK unit
This is a laboratory-analysed blood test, offering greater accuracy than rapid or at-home testing kits.
Understanding Your Vitamin D Result
Your report will show your Total Vitamin D level, which includes both:
-Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol)
-Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol)
Results are provided in nmol/L.
If your report includes results in ng/mL, the conversion is:
To convert ng/mL to nmol/L, multiply by 2.5
Clinical Review and Treatment Options
Once your results are received:
-A trained clinician will review and explain your Vitamin D level
-You will receive personalised advice on improving or maintaining healthy Vitamin D levels
-If a deficiency is identified, our clinician may prescribe Vitamin D treatment, where clinically appropriate
-We can also advise on diet, supplementation, and follow-up testing if needed
All recommendations are made in line with current clinical guidance and your individual needs.

Blood Pressure Check
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of premature death in the United Kingdom. It affects 7 million people and accounts for 1.6 million disability-adjusted life years. One of the biggest risk factors for Cardiovascular disease is Hypertension and it is estimated that over 5.5 million people are living with undiagnosed Hypertension in England alone. Early detection of hypertension is vital in reducing the risk of developing further complications including cardiovascular disease.
Unfortunately, Hypertension does not portray any noticeable symptoms and the only way to find out if your blood pressure is high is to have it checked, therefore it is important to get regular check ups from your GP or your nearest community pharmacy. If left untreated, it can increase your risk of serious problems such as heart attacks and strokes.
We are offering free NHS blood pressure checks to eligible people aged 40 and over with no appointment necessary.
This involves a consultation with our pharmacist. Following this, you may be invited to take home a monitor that measures your blood pressure as you go about your daily life. Depending on our readings, you may be referred to your GP. Ask us for more information about eligibility for this service.
Diabetes
At Rose Pharmacy, our diabetes risk awareness service in Greenwich is here to help you!
There are up to half a million people in the UK who have diabetes but remain undiagnosed. At Rose Pharmacy in Greenwich, via a quick and simple finger-prick blood test, our Diabetes Risk Awareness Service provides you with an assessment to better understand your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. This is worked out by measuring your average blood sugar level over the previous 3 months.
Following this test-out team of pharmacists can advise you on what actions you can take to reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes or refer you to your GP if necessary.

Cholesterol
The purpose of a cholesterol test is to determine how high your cholesterol levels are. Your blood contains cholesterol, a fatty substance.
In addition to being produced naturally by your liver, it can also be found in certain foods. In order for your body to function properly, you need a certain amount of cholesterol, but too much can be dangerous.
Your risk of stroke or heart disease increases if your cholesterol levels are high. Visit or contact Rose Pharmacy in Greenwich to determine whether you need further intervention.
